Ipod Issues

Guys,

I have an original Ipod which worked fine for a couple of days in the Roc.

But now, I either get no sound, but can still change/see artist on display, or the media input changes to AUX and the Ipod screen doesn't show as media-in. I suspect it's the MDI cable, as giving it a waggle whilst connected showed the ipod charging, then running of battery again.

Anyone else had similar issues?

cheers

Not suggested whilst driving at 70mph - or more!!! :hyper:

not suffered this conection problem withthe i-pod, just with the attached Hard Drive I have - found as long as I have it on the media player when I turn off, it's ok next time I turn on and dont have to turn it off and on again

If you have already checked that the cable is properly plugged in, and your happy that the iPod software is up to date, then maybe the cable is faulty. If you swap the cable and it is still there, get the stereo cheked on warranty.

I think that the system is sensitive to types of iPod. This may have been covered elsewhere. mine works fine with an old fashioned ipod mini but won't work with the last generation (third?) nano...

Increasingly i prefer the hard disc option anway...

ok an update...

I've had a replacement cable, and although the connection is slightly better.. the isssue continues.

I can see the tracks on the screen andmove between them, but no sound!

My ipod is one of the original white ones, it doesn't even play video. The software is upto date.

May speak to the dealer to see if there is any info on the VW system.

The latest generation nano is the 4th generation. The problem isnt just with the Scricocco either, its with every damn car made to date. Bloody Apple have decided to mess with the conector pins!!

Guess what i got for valentines.... Yes a useless 4th gen ipod nano!!

Hopefully an adaptor will apear on the market soon. Theres already one for charging on docking stations,

Mine works fine until the ipod runs out of juice, then it disconnects itself.
It doesn't seem to be charging when connected.

Any ideas?

well mine charges ok...

had another look/listen tonight. I noticed that there is sound of sorts coming from the ipod, you can hear static and some clicks and pops when you turn up the volme high. The ipod display still shows 'media-in' when connected also.

Don't know how big your music collection is but why not consider ditching the Ipod and try a USB Stick? A 16GB USB stick from Amazon is around £15.99 which is enough for 2300 songs / 185 Albums in Variable Bit Rate format which is the best the RCD / RNS510 can read. Larger ones are availible and don't appear to have any compatibility issues like with the Ipod. Just a thought?

I know there's issues with certain ipods and charging on things like docking stations. I didnt think the classic ipod was affected though. Might be worth looking at the link below to see if it will help.
