Just had a call from the dealers to say my new Rocco has arrived at UK port and will be with them next week
Just got to sort out the cherished plate transfer from the current car to the Rocco this weekend and all should be good.
REALLY can't wait now (feel like a kid on Christmas Eve)

Have asked the dealer NOT to clean it and even leave the protective wrappings on. I only live 1 mile away from the dealer and much prefer to detail the car myself.
What was your dealers response to your request also I like the white VW badge on the bonnet.

They said they have never been asked that before, but if thats what I really wanted then OK.
I suppose I'll find out on Thursday if they are good to their word.

There is a pitfall if you are very unlucky ...... removing the white skin protection a paint defect becomes visible and also, any ding. They could claim you caused it. They are effectively able to walk away from their PDi obligations with your permission.

Hmm good point. OK in that respect, I'll ask them to remove the sheeting but not wash the car. That way I can inspect all the panels for damage before taking delivery.
Thanks for pointing out that flaw i,n my otherwise perfectly executed plan

Sootchucker: PDI is an important process, i'm surprised they even agreed to pass the car on to you without unwrapping it, it leaves either you or them wide open to any manufacturing defects that are non mechanical. About 12 years ago I bought my first brand new VW. A week old, I gave it a wash and noticed a small dent (more like a crease) on one of the wheel arches, but the paintwork was perfect (so these things can happen, even with a VW). I went back to the dealership and said that if the paintwork was perfect, I couldn't have done t, and it must have been there prior to painting up as VW wouldn't have left it like that if they'd spotted it in the final factory checks, and again, the paintwork was perfect.
The dealership agreed to correct it, but as they'd missed it on their PDI, it was at their cost, not VW's.
If they'd have picked it up at PDI and the VW plant copped the responsibility, i'm sure the QC inspector to blame would've been summarily executed at dawn.
That Golf is very well kept, but beige interior? What were you thinking?

- It was a 2 month old ex-demonstrator and fully loaded with almost every extra for about £6k less than buying a new one.
I grew to really like it, but I know it's not everyones cuppa tea

. Anyway, in a few days it will be history.

I don't think I've ever seen such a prestigne looking 'old' car! The Golf looks like it just left the factory! Any the new car looks fabulous too. Where are you? I'd pay for you to keep my Scirocco clean when it arrives! hehe.

I like a Beige/Cream interior personally!
But that would involve having leather, which i'm less of a fan of!

Soot,
I notice that this is a bluemotion, how did you get such a short delivery time? When did you order your car? I have been waiting 5 months for a normal GT and the build date is end of April!!!!
Thanks
