122 owner on hire purchase, impure thoughts of upgrading

Having a blast with my current car, best car i've had (well others were polos hehe). I could only afford this model and it gives great MPG.

I remember the VW dealer saying I have to wait at least 18months before I can consider fiddling around with my contract.
Also I would wait until I am 25 so insurance goes down and I will be earning a fair bit more then so could afford the monthlies.

Does anyone think I can do this? i'd be drooling over a 2.0l GT DSG petrol ideally. Will it 'reset' everything again to three years Hire purchase?
Can I 'trade' in my current car and pay higher monthlies on the new model for the remaining 18 months? Probably not as I have a balloon payment on my current car!

Lastly I kinda wanna own my next car, the ride height bugs me and i'd want to lower. I'd also maybe have the guts to remap it to R power levels, balls permitting.

Or do I need to wait till end of my three years, sell my car and buy my own?
