Candy white - Paint issues?

hello all, i am deciding whether to get indium grey or candy white for my scirocco R, however i've experienced some issues with Candy white before with my Mk6 GTI, my front and rear bumpers has turned a bit yellowish (discolored?) after 2 months of ownership and always parked in indoor carparks...i've asked my dealer and they said its because of the changes in law / rules that require water based paint rather than oil based paint and because the material of the bumper is different from the body therefore will be some mismatch in color in long term

do any CW owners experience this too?

some pics of my ex gti too :D

Sounds like your dealer has given you a typical bulls*it excuse! Discolouration after 2 months of ownership is simply unacceptable! I've not had any problems with my CW, always parked outside, owned it for over a year.

Not a problem with mine. I had the autoglym protraction thrown in, which does seem to make it look very 'fresh'. May just be me though.

cus it happens with many of the sciroccos and golfs in my location - Hong Kong, would it be a batch problem? or just the weather is too hot / humid in hong kong? 25-32'c and 70% - 95% humidity most of the time.

i am in the refinishing trade and yes, the paint nowadays are mainly waterbased , for the sake of our delicate planet. But the law is on europe and countries that choses to follow it.

HK/ China i am not 100% sure. its costs a lot of money/ investments on the part of the bodyshops.

20 years maybe, but 2 months, there is something wrong.

you should speak to bodyshops/ car paint shops to get their opinion on this.

3 years on, my candy white is still ok. It is important nevertheless, to protect the paintwork from the elements by using trim specific sealants/ liquids you can get from any detailing shops.
