Hi
Left my 2 week old salsa red roc in the lanes car park in Carlisle yesterday while I went shoping with daughter, came back to find that someone had clipped rear drivers side bumper, pushing it out of joint at the wheel joint with the rear panel, not a major damage but boy am I p****d about it. Of course no one acknowledged they did it no note etc, suspected the car abandoned next to it so left note hoping for honesty if it was them. Yes you have guessed correctly no honesty. Going to dealer today so they can have a look and hopefully fix at little cost. Luckily there is no apparent damage to paint work and the black scuffs can be remove with polish. And they managed to miss the wheel.

I'm really sorry to hear that mate. It happened in my old car with a wing mirror. Some idiot knocked it off in a car park, only cost £45 for the cover and then fitting... like £100 in the end. Also, some plonker did the rear passenger side wing on the back. overall £400 for that. Brought me to tears literally. Too many prats out there who cannot drive. People moan about young drivers but 9/10 I just see middle aged people knocking this and that and not giving a toss cos they hvae some clapped out Rover 25. Maybe they failed in life, maybe they're jealous, or just to cowardly.... but they never say anything.
Only once have I actually caught someone driving off and jotted down the number plate for the guy who tey did it to on his Evo 8. He was happy and got it sorted. Called me for a pint one time. Never went, told him I just wish more would do it.
Hope you get some good luck cos I'm gutted for you.

Well a bit of good luck bit the dealer repaired the bumper and it looks like new, and they did it free of charge as it didnt take then long, so a thumbs up for Benfields of Dumfries ( this is the second car i have bought from them).
The person who hit the car also phoned and appoligised this evening much to my surprise, didnt relise they had hit the car as they hit a kerb at the same time, so alls well that ends well. However it will make me even more paranoid about where to park the car, as I agree with Ryy that there are so many plonkers out there who dont care about other peoples cars.

I tend to give a bit more space to people opening doors on the driver side also. Though to be honest, you should be looking at the passenger side cos again, 9/10, that is like the side of the people who don't drive and have no awareness of how big / heavy / close etc another car is so "BOOM". Oooh, I just scratched your paint.
I'm genuinely happy for you mate, great dealer you have there. That's what gets people in, things like that. Really a nice touch from them.

Glad you got it done for nowt. Just need to get my rear bumper sorted our for same reason but its going to cost me £320. Going to wait until all this snow and ice have gone - I can see me just getting it fixed and then someone skids in to the back of me on the ice

As I mentioned elsewhere somebody caught mine on my street, so perhaps even one of the neighbours. Hit the rear wheel arch travelling from the nose toward the tail, nicked the alloy, and scratched the arch on the other side. I've not had a quote done yet, but I'll investigate in the new year. I also need a front wheel arch liner after I hit an animal (a badger I think, possibly a black and white cat - I couldn't find it afterwards, but I hit it at speed).
The upside is that I don't live my girlfriend, so we might put it through on her company policy and say she did it (the damage to the bodywork, can't really claim I ran her over at speed)...not honest either, but just once I might allow myself to pull a fast one as, at the end of the day, somebody's insurer somewhere should be paying for it - just not mine!

i had my driver door and front wheel arch scratched in my work car park - not best pleased. the quote i had was in the region of £550 for sorting out the paint - luckily no dent but the scratch is pretty deep.
i dont really know what sort of price to expect and am wary of finding a bodyshop to do a good job.

Well at least it wasn't as bad as parking somewhere to find that the bus had decided to take the side off the car - new bumper, new alloy, new door, and complete side paint job. Never mind all done now...as for mirrors the worst part of that was waking up one day to find that some chav had probably knocked my glass out in the night. I thought oh just a bit of glass, only I had a stroke when I was told that a piece of glass was £265+VAT
