My car is one year old and the breakdown cover has run out.

I received my renew letter for 89.00 for one year extended cover and called up to renew.

While speaking to RAC who provide the cover he said that the offer is open for six months. Now here is the clever bit, if you breakdown you can take out the cover at the roadside with your mobile and a debit card and they will rescue you no problem.

So wait till you breakdown and keep the renewal letter in your car and remember to renew just before 6 months if you dont breakdown.

Just give them a call and they will confirm.

I know that there is lots of alternative covers but I will use the VW one as they send out specialist VW breakdown trucks which hold VW parts (so they say) and I think 89.00 for a year and a half is a bargain

I got the letter too. However, I also got a letter for our Tiguan (which we picked up at the same time).

I didn't go for the VW 'special offer', instead, went to the AA (via Top Cashback) and got joint personal cover for everything bar European cover for £121 (with £50 cashback).

So, £71 for both of us to be covered in any car we're in.
