I know this maybe should be in the build week thread but as its more a question ive put it here instead ;)

Weve just had our build week confirmed as week 37 :D

I know that means it should be being built in the week commencing 13th september but thats about it :?

id be grateful if somebody in the know coul explain the various stages? i see peeps here talking about their cars being at stage 1,stage 2 etc what it all mean?

And once its finished what happens to the car next?

Im a bit shocked as my car is an ongoing lease my current golf goes back at the start of december and i pick up the rocco at the same time :D

I asked my dealer today if its being built in just two weeks time will the car be hanging around in their compound at the dealers for months? :(

My dealer said it wont arrive at the dealership until mid november :shake:

So where will id be once finished for those couple of months?

All a mystery to me

Any info will be appreciated ;)

Im all excited though nevertheless as it all seems real now,in just two weeks somebody will be building my car in portugal   :hyper: :yippee:

i'd love to know too jodie, i've been on here over a year and not once has a dealer told anyone what the specific stages comprise of, we've only been able to make rough guesses

once finished it waits on the dock for the next boat for shipping to either sheerness direct or emden to then get a shuttle ship onwards

shipping takes roughly 3-4 weeks depending on when it hits the shipping schedule (see http://www.sciroccocentral.co.uk/forum/ ... &start=580" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for ship schedules) they will not hold it at the factory, so as a guide your car will arrive in the UK mid Oct it will either be held at the port compound or the at the dealers but they can not keep it at the factory & alter its shipping and delivery for your specific order

Hope that helps

Thanks trix
makes a bit more sence now :D didnt realise it took 3-4 weeks for the boat to get here :eyepop: Ill have to send them some paddles to help quicken up the pace

So do the cars get delivered to Germany first before being redistributed to UK? Emden is germany isnt it?

I bet it isnt now and ill have egg on my face :(

how do i actually find out which ship my car will be on or will all week 37 cars be on the same boat?

either way its really exciting knowing its going to be built in the next two weeks

Im guessing that my Roc will probably spend some time at the dealers compound which is a Biggg Warehouse at a secure site not far from the dealers itself we went there with the dealer so he could show us a car in Viper Green and its undercover,Safe and Secure

I very nearly changed my mind on the very last minute regarding colour but im glad i chose Viper Green seen one again today at the dealers and the colour is Well lush :D

Week 37 is split between two sailings, Mon. - Wed will sail via Emden on 17th Sept, Thurs - Friday will sail via Emden on 23rd Sept. Then transfer to a second ship at Emden for Grimsby or sometimes Sheerness.

The sailings will appear in the shipping topic here as things firm up, 1st sailing of Wk37 around 10th/11th September. The ship is only just 1/4 way thro' the Wk35 run.

it doesn't take the full 3 or 4 weeks to get to the UK that is just the average time it takes as the ships only sail every week or so (depends on production levels) the actual sailing takes a few days.

some cars will get on the ship route that we have termed the 'Sheerness Express' which goes direct from Setubal to Sheerness (again depends on production levels, and number of UK orders) alternatively they get a ship from Setubal to Emden (yes it is in Germany) and then get shuttled on another ship into Sheerness of Grimsby. whether it gets a direct ship or not depends on the shippings scheduled at the time but the durations don't vary much so don't worry about which it gets on

RW1 has got the art of ship schedules down to a fine art now and gives a guide of what build weeks (or part of build weeks) are on what ships, VW customer services may or may not give you the ship name once its loaded (I think we are starting to freak them out in terms of the knowledge level 'ordinary' customers have) but tbh once you know its in production just keep an eye what ships are sailing and which build weeks are anticipated on which ships it does not take long for it to arrive in the country so just take note of when the ships are due to dock and unload.

Thanx Guyz much appreciated :D

I think my dealer was bemused when we asked him for a build week date today :P

Cant wait to go and ask him the name of the ship our Rocco is comming in on :rofl2:

If i can go and quote the names of the possible ships it may be on he will be even more amazed :eyepop:

Ill keep my eyes open on the shipping thread for the week 37 boats :D

From above, the early week 37 build complete assigned ship is called Emden, departure on the 17th Sept. The latter half of week 37 is called African Highway, departure on the 23rd Sept. Dates are provisional at the moment but are close enough.

There are no "Sheerness Express" spot hire ships. They're all laid up in ports or are working other contracts.

I'm laughing so hard the idea of going to my dealer & telling him that I know exactly what ship my car is on. The next thing I was trying to do was figure out if its possible to track the location of the car transporter its on once it hits UK shores, although I guess thats going a bit to far.
