in order to keep technically the right side of the law you'd need the winter pack (headlight washers) if you retrofitted them

I found at US site that you can get whole headlights for 600€. I wonder if it will be available in europe and for how much. In Poland there was no xenon option when I ordered mine Scirocco.

its strange that the US has the lights for the scirocco, as there not even been sold over there

headlight washers are NOT needed by law - Xenons HAVE to be self levelling, that's all - but quite tricky to retro fit I'd imagine

Please read:
http://www.dft.gov.uk/pgr/roadsafety/drs/hidheadlamps
Therefore a HID headlamp unit sold in the after market should:
2. when fitted to the vehicle should enable ECE Regulation 48 to be complied with (although no government inspection will take place).
In practice this means:
2. Once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling (which can be for the headlamp or can be in the vehicle suspension - some expensive estate cars have "self-levelling suspension" and that is adequate). Also the dipped beam must stay on with the main beam.
With regards to the line that says "although no government inspection will take place", I think the car will fail when eventually going for an MOT.
It's dated December 2006, I think they really need to review it again for 2009.

"Once fitted to the vehicle it must have headlamp cleaning and self-levelling"
I stand correct
