The Mk7 definately has a lot more rocco'esque style front!

If the MK4 Scirocco is due 2014 then that will be perfect timing for a change for me

...cant wait already - and i dont even have my MK3 yet!!

is the implication that the 3dr Golf will become sleeker and thus replace both the mk6 3dr and the Scirocco?

that means trade in prices for Mk3 R's should hold up well.

Mk7 Golf R with 300bhp / 4mo set up....hmmm. Interesting!

Be interesting to see what new golf would look like. If it looked like the "Excess" show model I'd definately have it. 4 years time, 300bhp Scirocco R would suit me nicely.

Just none of this eco crap though.

Odd how few journos pick up on the fact, when mentioning the relatively short lifespan of the Golf VI, that VI was really a facelifted Golf V with effectively the same body, whereas Golf VII will really be a new model. This is the first time that VW have done a major facelift on the Golf (if we ignore the bigger bumpers on Golf I). I'm guessing that it was taking to long to get the Modular Transverse Matrix concept up and running, so VW needed to get an interim Golf into the market place. Now that MTM is there, Golf VII can come to market, only, as they say, VI is selling so well that they can afford to relax a bit with VII.

Have to say, though, that I've got every faith in Walter de Silva's ability to deliver a subtle, understated design, and the 2.0TDI GTD 4Motion, 220bhp version could tempt me out of my much loved diesel Roc - especially if they offer some decent bright colours instead of every version of blue/grey known to mankind.

Golf MK2, not MK1.

The MK6 came about because they needed to cut the production costs of the MK5.

I was just referring to the minor facelift in 1980 which saw the adoption of larger rear lamp clusters and revised bumpers, which replaced the original chrome with plastic end cap jobbies.

I doubt this pic came from VW but if it had done, I hope they would can the Peugeot-esque door mounted wing mirrors! IMO they just look out of place

Find it somewhat hard to believe there's already a design ready for the 2014 Rocoo, which will be based on the next generation Golf.. It looks like they just inflated the current one and added some..well less good looking features, the verdict is out and it's a definitive
Candy White 1.4 TSI 160 - DSG, ACC, 18" Interlagos (Euro Premium&Sport packs), Alu Door Sills, Current VCDS Mods Needle Sweep, Cornering Fog Lights, Alarm Chirp, Emergency Break Warning, Dension Gateway 5, sort of..

I dont know if its only me, but the Golf 7 spyshot looks the same as the current Golf 6 but with ugly plastic trims.
There's no way that's what the next Golf looks like.
I read that the Scirocco is undergoing a face-lift in 2011. Any truth to this?

I saw that original mule picture 18 months ago and it said it was actually the new Audi A3 underneath not the MK 7 Golf
