Im contemplating having a little holiday to pick up my new roc' up from the factory when I come up to me 3 options and a couple years time. But only if they are made in europe. Ive herd they are made in Portugal, Germany or Brazil.

I didn't think VW allowed you to pick it up from the Factory?

It's assembled at the VW Palmela factory near Lisbon.
Here's a video

I doubt you would be able to collect in Portugal. When VW state collecting at the factory, they are usually referring to the Autostadt at Wolfsburg which is alongside the VW Wolfsburg factory.

But there's always a first! May be our Portuguese friends on here can enlighten.

Factory collection from Wolfsburg (or Portugal) not available for UK customers and costs extra anyway.

Thats a shame. I was hoping I could pick it up from the factory even if there is is an extra cost. When it comes to the time I get my 3 options from VW maybe they will make it avilable in the UK as an option.

I was at Autostadt in October 2008 just after the first Scirocco's appeared. I was touring in my old 911 and turned up at the main entrance because I hadn't spotted the signs to the main car park, but as I was in an 'Oldtimer', they let me park in a VIP space next to the rows of Sciroccos which were available for public demo. It was seeing them there that got my interest going and persuaded me to try a normal modern car for winter driving.
I thought about the factory pickup option but didn't really look into whether it was possible (although there was a guy picking up an RHD (Dresden built!) Bentley there that day). On the drive back to the UK that evening, it occurred to me that with a brand new car you would have to plan your return as a leisurely multi-day cross-country trip in order to follow the running in schedule correctly. OK, you could bumble along the slow lane of the autobahn, but the optimal running in strategy means that it's best to vary the speed constantly, and you would probably really wind people up on the Autobahn by doing that.
