baggy gearchange? WTF. Its the same 02Q 6 speeder thats in various cars all across the VAG range. And in the Mk5 GTI that i currently have its spot on.
And Recaro seats? Ermm don't think so! 336mm front discs? I swear they're 345mm ones!
As an all round car the Roc is spot on. The FRS is too OTT and in yer face, with a mega stiff ride. RS Megane is french and i don't do french cars

plus i really don't like the styling.

I think it's a case of horses for courses. The R was not built to compete head on with the Ford and Renault as it is so much more sophisticated and crucially , should be worth more after 3 years. However, Autocar did rank it 1st and my impression was that they liked it very much and could live with it day in day out compared to the competition. The loss of a star for a "baggy" gearchange, (they said that about the Golf R but no one else did) , is interesting. I think I know what they mean but it does not spoil my enjoyment. Baggy is the wrong word you just can't be lazy selecting 4TH AND 6TH gear up the box. Be positive in the gate. It has happened twice on me but I now know and besides everything is still tight. It really isn't something I have thought "that's not right". Let us all remember that there isn't a perfect car out there whatever you spend.

Thinking about it "baggy" means loose to me. It's anything but. I am going to ask where my Recaro seats are though.

In the Testers notes at the end, the bit by Matt Prior states:- "Why no external boot release? Thankfully the key remote has a button, but even so this is frustrating."
Unless my eyes deceive me, I can see the normal boot release in the cockpit picture on page 68

4/5 and still topped focus rs, not bad, short shifter and gear change sorted, really liked the cloth seats, may have been swayed back to blue though
i think the beef on the boot is there is no realease on the tailgate, i've never had an issue with using a key fob

The cockpit isn't exactly on the "external" of the car is it?

Ah yes - your right - sorry! - I was referring to the internal release (did not read it properly)
Even so - would not bother be about the lack of an external release!

My Boxster has no external bonnet or boot release (key or internal switch) and they don't complain about that. As for the gearshift, DSG sorts that easily!

Pretty sure there is gonna be no problems with the manual, I mean, WTF does "baggy" mean?
It's just they have to find something (anything!) to put in their 3 good points and 3 bad points column.
Don't hear them moaning about rear visibility on a lotus evora or veyron!
Just take the review for what it is, a load of rubbish that the manufacturer pays for a nice meal and petrol money to whoever is reporting on their car.
After seeing my R in the flesh ...I have no worries
