I picked up Auto Express this morning.

They have a group test of a manual vs TT 2.0, Brera 2.2S and BMW 125i, all of which are £5000 dearer.

They concluded that the extra 5k was worth it for the TT but the Scirocco was excellent.

thats if you can afford the extra £5K (approaching 25%) in the first place, look on it as 95% of the run for 75% of the cost (bargain really)

i know someone who has just bought a brera and had a good look round it (alas in Clarkson's eyes i shall remain not a true petrol head)

Having driven the Scirocco, and the TT, I'd say it was spot on.
The Scirocco comes out of this most creditably I'd say.

Hopefully I'm going to drive it next week.

I'd say bang for buck, the Scirocco is an excellent choice. As Andy says, the £5k may be worth it, but that's only if you can afford to stump it up. The running costs of the TT are going to be a fair bit more too I'd reckon.

I agree its a very good article and iu am pleased to see they have not allowed price to have to much of a factor in the judgement

It does make you wonder how well the car would have done if they had just gone a little further with the dash, but then hay we would probably be paying a few grand more and I know what I would ather have.

I do like the closing comment though.
