Nice little 2 page spread on the R for the top 10 cars of the year.
Cant help but feel i have messed up a tad by not ordering the DSG but i need reliability for the long term as intend to keep the car a long time ...and there was no way i could push the extra 2k for it.

Spamdog - I did wonder about about the DSG, In the end I ordered the same spec as you, other than I finally binned the leather and went for the DSG instead. I hope I don't regret that.

you can retrim your interior relativley easily and cheaply, and even get better results than factory fit leather.
you can't retrofit dsg...

Roc R mention in this months EVO mag.

Article by David Vivian regarding the Roc R at the eCoty...

"Deeply impressive but just lacking some soul. VW have made it too clinical"

So they prefer the not quite perfect FRS instead with the 3rd rate interior and torque steer!

and the rocco r isn't going to torque steer? i get what they mean the FRS feels like a modded car, the expereince means its feels more engaing and quicker than it actually is

so far no one has said the Roc R / Seat LCR (Same engine / power / XDS) torque steers...so don't know really.

I can kind of understand them thinking VW have made the Roc R bit too sensible, but can you say they're aiming for the same people as for FRS / VXR / Megane 250 / LCR etc? I think each marque appeals to different types actually.

When everyone first reviewed the Focus RS they were banging on about how great the revoknuckle system worked and how there was minimal/none torque steer ...roll on a few months and they are all saying how bad it is!
It's all a load of old bo**ocks.

Just like they are saying how great the DSG is in the R when there has not been 1 manual R reviewed yet. in 6 months time they will be saying the manual is better (ok, maybe not. But cuz im getting one it will be better!)

Im not bitter :p

funny u mention about manual...EVO have a normal TFSI on their fleet, and the journo driving it reckons he likes the manual better than the DSG!

Torque steer isn't simply due to power. . .

Its quite easy to minimise :)
