I think your trying to cross wires with the "R"???? The article is old and around the same time earlier this year it was the Polo GTi all the magazines were touting, not a Polo"R" with this photo impression.

But......... you never know!

they were also on about the polo having a de-tuned 2.0T under the bonnet, most prob wont happen, but would be very nice
