Just how difficult is it to buy an R ???

Hi everyone, I'm new on here so go easy for the time being
Anyway I'm just wondering how difficult it is to buy an R ?
Since Friday I've called 3 dealers - still waiting for them to return my calls
I've also today visited my 2 most local dealers today only to get blank looks and vague responses from the sales ?? people.
It seems like VW customer service / product knowledge don't exist any more
Any ideas / recommendations would be greatly appreciated, I live in NE Scotland but am willing to travel to deal with someone who knows what they're talking about
and understands the concept of customer service.
Thanks in advance
John

That sounds like shocking service
The Scirocco R is on the VW website and you can configure it on there! How the dealers can look blankly at you, I have no idea! Yes, there are only 500 being allocated to the UK in the first instance, but the ordering was only opened on the 30th October, so it has only been available for one week.
Ring more dealers perhaps? Ring VW head office and make a complaint! I can 100% recommend my own dealership but it is nowhere near where you live
Hope you get somewhere soon

One thing I have picked up from the revised ordering process for the R is that it would be preferable to use a local dealer has they must include a signed orderform when submitting the order to VW UK & (from my own experience buying my Roc [not an R]) using a dealer who would need to post the order form etc to you would severely delay getting this signed order into the hands of VW UK & therefore delay getting your order in & confirmed which you really don't want considering the restriction on the number of R's being sent to the UK.
As LadyRocR suggests configure your R online on volkswagen.co.uk & take a printed copy in with you. the salesmen should not be giving you blank looks when you say SciroccoR!!! (they should be seeing pound signs

Hi John,
I'm assuming you drew a blank at the Elgin & Inverness dealers, which is quite surprising!
I have an excellent relationship with my local dealer (Peterhead), so I would certainly recommend them ahead of all others. I was told in a recent email that they'd had plenty of interest in the R's, but only 1 confirmed order for the Roc R (mine!) and 1 for the Golf R. That was last week, but things may have changed since the R's started to appear in the motoring press.
Good Luck

Thanks everyone.
Still waiting for my calls / dealership visits to be responded to
I've some spare time this weekend so I think I'll try further afield if no response locally before that.

Its VW dealers I am afraid, they don't phone customers back Its a policy they all have....
You shouldn't be bothering them trying to buy a £26k + car anyway

take the weekend & go & sit in a dealership till they take notice, from your current response I might suggest taking a picture of the Roc R to act as a visual aid.
