ABS Sensor Warning lights after Sensor change

Hey folks!

I'm relatively new around here but I have frequented the forums for similar issues that I might have had with my Scirocco but I've come to reach out to the community here for some assistance.

I wanted to preface by saying that I'm not that versed in car mechanics so I might need some stuff dumbed down for me. Thank you in advanced.

Now to the actual question I have. I recently have started to encounter an odd issue. I had an ABS, TCS, Steering Fault and Tyre pressure warning light appear which ended up being a faulty front left ABS sensor. I have encountered this before and a Sensor change has cleared the issue. This time around I had the same ABS Sensor fault but after a Sensor change, the warnings have started to appear time and again. Typically on start and a few times while driving, but all have would disappear within a minute or so. What's bugging me is that this has been ongoing for 3 days now. I went to my regular mechanic who, upon inspection said that there were no codes read on the OBD.

My question is, has anyone else encountered this or knows what this issue is?

Some additional context is that prior to this issue I had all my brake pads changed. Also just today I encountered a "crunching" feeling and sound with the brake pedal, which I'm not sure if it's related but it happened just before the warnings came back on.

Please let me know if you guys know anything or know how to help me out.

Thanks from a new member of the community!

It sounds like your mechanic has a basic obd reader that can't read intermittent faults. With a system such as VCDS, if a fault code has been displayed, you would certainly find a record of the specific trouble code(s) in the relevant control module(s).

From the symptoms you describe, it seems likely one of the other ABS wheel speed sensors has an intermittent fault, which in time will become permanent

Thanks for the reply! I'll need to shop around to the other mechanics to see if they can diagnose the issue as you described. As little update, I drove the car today for about 30ish miles basically none stop and the flashing of the warnings didn't happen, only on initial start. As for the described "crunchy" brake feeling it happened about 2 or 3 times but I haven't been able to recreate it.

Regardless, I'll look into it further and will reply here with an update.

The "crunchy" feel on the brakes may just be a bit of surface corrosion on the discs following rain - heard that on mine initially yesterday after a few days parked on the drive
