Infotainment system clock not working

After a cold spell I noticed that the infotainment clock was reading 0:00 while the dash clock and dials clock read the correct time. I noticed that occasionally it will flash the time 6:28 for a fraction of a second and then revert to 0:00.
I have seen reports of this clock being out of sync by a second or two (which I think is normal) but can't find any reports of this.
Does anyone have any ideas?

This exact issue has happened to me today showing 0.00 then flashes to 6.28 for a split second! 2016 1.4 GT
Intrigued to know if you have found a fix to this - have tried hard reset of head unit and resetting clock time but still having the same issue

No luck. I thought it might be a voltage issue (you can get odd things happen if the voltage is low) but my battery is within tolerance.
Odd they both read 6:28. It must mean something.

Very strange that it's happened in the same week for both - also can't seem to find any reports of the same issue online.
Have also checked my battery voltage and it's fine. Please do update if you find a fix

Actually seems to be a well known issue across various VW 2015/2016 models. Looks like it could be a software issue but not seen anyone post a fix yet

Great job finding that.

Mine does the exact same, reads 00:00 mostly, occasionally flicks to 627 or 628 for a second or 2 then back to zero. Have recently been told by a retrofit place that it's probably because I fitted another digitizer over the top of the old one rather than trying to remove it first (they're glued on so would probably destroy the screen if I tried, and there is physically enough space inside the unit to fit another over the top) but apparently it puts pressure on the edges so affects the clock. Maybe your screen has been done the same previously.

After some research, I think it’s a bug in the internal clock. After a certain amount of time there’s an overflow error. Not sure if it’s fixed on an update. I have been looking into getting an update but not got around to it. I recon mine errored 10yrs after the units manufacturer date, several months before the car build. A coincidence?
