Scirocco Central

Morning all... I'm new here this is my first post just looking for some advice really.

I broke down a couple of weeks back because the timing belt had snapped and got tangled up with the fan belt as most of you know this can do some serious damage to the engine - in my case it did!

I've since had a replacement engine fitted (and also a new flywheel and clutch as that was going to be done on my next MOT anyway felt it would be best to do it all on one go) but still having a couple of new problems with it.

1. I still get an amber engine light on the dashboard and the error codes I get from the OBDII are: P261A00 & P200200?

2. Whenever I'm accelerating particularly in gear 1 & 2 when the revs get higher it makes a weird sound for a couple of moments - hard to determine its sounds like air to me getting louder rather than a metal/rattling sound.

3. New clutch - noticed when I take my foot off the clutch I can hear a click and also once or twice when releasing the clutch it has made a strange vibrating noise coming from the passenger side of the engine.

Spent £2000 on replacements and labour so just a bit of advice/feedback from other Scirocco owners would be helpful especially if anyone else has gone through similar experience.

Those codes look to be water pump and particulate filter related. Both things would have been removed/refitted as part of th engine replacement - if the codes were not present previously then it could be related to the that work.

What has the person who did the install said about the clutch and vibration issues? I would assume that would definitely be related to the engine install/clutch/flywheel work.

I'm assuming you have a rhd car, so the gearbox is on the left - your noise/vibration could be clutch/flywheel or diff/driveshaft related as they are all on that side, and all would have been disturbed when the engine was replaced.

Thanks for that mate. I actually took the car back to my mechanic and he's managed to sort it. However still gets a squelching noise now when accelarating.

Tell you what's interesting though I've just had a new battery fitted at Halfords and the fitter noticed something was disconnected in the engine which has raised some concerns even though there's no issues anymore with the car. Not sure if I can post pictures on here but the connection is in between the the fuel filter and radiator area if that makes sense.
