Looking some help
I've a 2009 vw scirocco mk3 2.0tdi
Monday 21st November at 18:00 car wouldn't start got mechanic out and was told battery was done need a new one.
Fitted new battery following evening and car still wouldn't start dash not lighting up nor was the radio.
Contacted Autospark and was told keys need recoding
Got guys out following day and they tested dash and it was fine.
Told car needed to go to Vw to get sorted.
So car Needs Ecu replaced due to Water ingress and its Green inside and all the connections are full of corrosion and rusted Gateway database needs replaced to and the car needs a complete wiring harness.
Bill to fix the car is £17500 at the moment and my question to the site is on Vw scirocco 2.0tdi is this a common fault how can the water get into a sealed Ecu and what's the likelihood of insurance writing the car off due to Electricial issues not Mechanical as I know Mechanical isn't covered by insurance.
