Hi can anyone tell me if a Scirocco 2,0 tfsi has two water pumps and where are they located.
Is one of the pumps electric and if the electric one had failed would it cause the heating to be cold
The engine runs at the right temperature but the heater will only run warm, the garage that I use say that they can not find anything wrong.
Can anyone tell me a good garage to use in somerset.
Thanks for any help

Yes, there are 2 water pumps, one driven by the engine, the other electric. The electric one, under specific circumstances, runs on after switch off to keep coolant circulating for a period to prevent heat soak. I wouldn't expect its operation to affect heating.

Assuming the car gets upto normal operating temperature, ruling out a thermostat issue, it's either a blockage in the heater matrix or the temp mixer flap is stuck. If it was the mechanical pump failure the car would overheat.

Just be aware the coolant temp gauge is corrected and displays 90 over the temp range 75 to 105. You can get the real-time value through the OBD port.

thank you Cuprabob
is the temperature mixer flap on the drivers side
I took out the glove box so that i could see the flaps and then set the climate control in to the check mode where it opens the flaps
all the ones I could seem to open and shut.At the same I checked the heater matrix was nice and hot so I think you are right and is the temperature mixer flap so hope it is on the drivers side,
The car runs at the right temperature and the coolant is nice and clean
Once again thank you for any help that you can give

Apologies, I'm not sure but I thought the mixer flap was on the passenger (RHD) side but if the heater matrix is getting nice and hot then it can only be an air mixing / air direction issue. It could be the mixer flap is operating correctly but the climate control system is controlling incorrectly either due to a faulty temp sensor or a faulty control panel. There is a hidden menu within the climate control system that gives access to a nimber of parameters for diagnosis purposes. I used to know how to access is it on older Golfs but is you google "Golf MK6 climate control hidden menu" you should locate a procedure to access it.
