Hi my scirocco TDI R-Line is coming up for MOT service inc brake fluid with cambelt & water pump.
My car has always had VW main dealer services but I do not plan on selling the car I really like it!

Oil change with inspection
Cambelt & water pump
Brake fluid change
MOT

VW Dealership quote .. Cambelt & waterpump is £549.00

Service would be £163.47 for oil & inspection service (unsure what gets inspected??
)

Brake fluid would be due January 2021 which is £69

Or my local independent garage that is VAG specialist with VW master techs with 25+ years experience has quoted me
Mot and gold service £209
Timing belt and solenoid water pump £425
Brake fluid change £35
Free courtesy car too
Plus they are really good set of lads really helpfull and they have just replaced my flywheel clutch & slave for £890 inc fitting

Surely they use the same quality parts?

Hello, if you are keeping the car I would use the independant garage, just my opinion !!

If you were happy for the indie to do clutch then I can see no reason why you woildn't use them for this work.

Yes - for an older vehicle, I would be inclined to go with the independent. I find the service to generally be superior than at the main dealership and they quite often are happy to tackle other smaller issues, which the main dealer would refuse or quote a ridiculous amount.

That’s great thanks guys. I’ve got that booked in with my local independent garage. One more question. Tte service light has come on “oil & Inspection service due 6 days. But it’s not booked in til the 21st so couple of weeks yet. Will it be ok til then?
