Scuffed Alloy

Hello

Just recently, I accidentally scuffed my alloy, which as you might expect has absolutleyly gutted me. I have a dilema that I would like some feed back on:

Do I
A: get it repaired and resprayed, which may not be the same tone/colour for £75
OR
B: Pay £300 for a single alloy (Considering they cost £500 for 4 when you order them!!!) now please correct me on my maths but thats about 200% margin for VW?

Anyway any advice/help would be really helpfull.... in fact if anyone has a spare one in mint condition (18") I can purchase as well.....at a reasonable price of course

Thanks
Regards

Remember they only cost this as an upgrade so VW get to keep the standard ones. You are paying the difference, not the full cost when you buy these.

I'd probably go new and get the old one repaired as a spare when for when one gets kerbed next time. It always happens (to me) sooner or later!

you can get any alloy refurbed for about £50-£70.
honestly, you can never tell the difference when an alloy is refurbed.
most companies (well all the ones i've ever used) do a fantastic job.

Go for the refurb. You can have the whole wheel striped and recoated and you wont be able to tell.

Alternatively you can have someone like Chips Away to repair the damaged area only, but from past experience it costs the same as a complete refurb. Quality is still good though.

I scraped my left front but haven't had the time to do anything about it yet.
I was considering chipsaway for 70 odd quid. They'll come and do it on your driveway.

A friend took delivery of a new Aston Martin vantage at a cost of £120K and a years wait. Two weeks old and he scrunched the weel on his drive, he had it refurbished and he is very very fussy, honestly you cannot tell

Check this thread on Pistonheads

A lot of MKV GTi owners have had their monzas refurbed by lepsons and when I was on those golf forums everyone raved about the quality of Lepson's work.

might be too late, but if you're after a replacement wheel: we're doing a replica version for around £100.00 a wheel.
PM me for more info.

thanks.
