I've been getting a weird rattle noise from the engine , it seems to only happen at certain temperatures outside, lately the temperature has been up and down so much I have determined that it shows up between 16c to 20c, reading from the car temperature shownhttp://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/5d1f00787ab ... 130805.mp4

Hi Scuby,

Does the rattle happen only when you are driving,or also when standing still? If you get it when stationary, you could eliminate the rattle from the bonnet strut by opening the bonnet (I had this, it drove me mad til I worked it out).

Let me know how you get on...

No it was making the noise even at stationary and with bonnet up

I took it to a garage to check it out and we've determined that it is somthing to do with the alternator or tensioner as when we took the belt off and rev'd the engine the sound went. I've had the tensioner changed but the noise still accures so now I'm having to look at getting the alternator changed

If it is "Only" the alternator, I suppose that might not be too bad to fix (time and £££). It could be worse !

Thought I'd update in case someone has or ever has the same issue but I think it's something to do with the AC, when the noise kits in and I turn the AC on to 2 the noise will vamp up for a sec or two and then it's gone, I turn off the AC and it's all good. it may pop up again during the trip depending how long that is but I just repeat the steps and it's all good, not sure what a permanent solution is though
