Extended Warranty - not sure ...

Hi all,

Just a quick opinion poll. My Scirocco is a 2014 1.4 TSI 158BHP with DSG. It is one of the last ever twincharge 7 Speed DSGs to be made, so has all the latest build/mods - i.e. better pistons, better clutch plates and so on..

My mileage is about 30,000 - I do about 12K per year.

So I am two years on from buying it from VW and the extended warranty is about to expire. They have quoted £140 to renew it (named components only) or £160 (Comprehensive)....

This seems less than expected but still not sure if it's worth it....

At that price I would say it's a no brainer.

As warranties go it's pretty good and I've had no issue claiming when I've needed to.

Agreed, at 160 for comprehensive its very cheap. I've had to use the extended warranty twice, one for a mechatronics and one for a clutch pack - thats about 2k of parts and labour.

The dealership did refuse the 1st claim as there was some issue over the previous owner having reported something similar inside the factory warranty, but the guys at this dealership were morons...a quick letter to VW head office with me explaining their perilous legal position, and threatening to take their first born as compensation soon sorted things out.

Second claim went without a hitch, infact they bent over backwards to keep me happy.

Definitely go for it at that price especially since you have DSG! It really is ridiculously cheap versus the potential costs if you have a problem. The Comprehensive isn't that much different from a new car warranty. Just do it.
