My second Rising Blue R

To make a long story short, I recently sold my first R, seriously considered a MY16 facelift R, but in the end my love for the pre-facelift R won when I found this example.

As I probably explained in the thread about my first R, the R model was never sold new by VW in our market. Hence, very few cars on the roads and for sale, so this one I bought from Germany. The history of this R is that it was owned by VW (factory, not dealer) for the first 6 months or so, then owned by a VW employee since then, who I then bought the car of.

The car is MY13 with most of the available options (list price new in Gernany was something like 55k €). I think the only options missing are the phone holder and panoramic roof. Both of which I had on my previous car but which I'm happy this one does not have. Considering my previous one was of a very similar spec, the main thing for me on this car was the Recaro's (which I have always wanted). All in all it was very much exactly specced as I would have wished, down to every detail. The history of the car also appealed, and I don't complain about the fact that it is actually signed by 4 (now 5) time consecutive WRC world champion Sébastien Ogier... ;)

...

Finally then a couple of pictures of my third Scirocco mk3 (after a TDI and an R).

Oh, and the Nürburgring stickers are on the car because it actually did a lap on the circuit. Don't know if I will keep them or remove them, have not made up my mind yet...

Thanks!

Exchanged all the interior lights for LEDs today. Won't get to enjoy them for some time yet though, with to sun being up for over 20h here in our part of the world during this time of the year :)
Sunrise @ 03:28 today, sun down at 23:33...

Changes done so far:

- full interior LED kit
- bonnet single gas damper
- some Recaro stickers for the back of the seats
- Dectane LED rear lights (red/smoke) (new production, hopefully error free)

Went back to the original badges as I prefered them over the black ones.
Gave the car a proper clean/polish/wax last week.

Thanks guys!

Bonnet damper: https://goo.gl/YrXfRE" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Dectanes: http://www.purecardesign.com/Beleuchtun ... rauch.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

But a warning on Pure Car Design. The shipping cost proved to be higher in reality compared to what the webshop says (think it was around 18 EUR). And in the end I had to wait like 3 weeks for them and not the 2-3 days they say. And in that time they made several false promises on shipping date.

Parked the R for the winter this week, so 4-5 months of storage next. With our climate up here in Finland I feel it makes sense.

Already missing it though...can't wait for April! :)

Never seen a R on those wheels - were they an option or just off a 'lesser' model?

Thanks guys!

On a 2013 R (in Germany where this was sold new), the 18" Talladega wheels would have been standard, with the 19" Talladega and these 19" Lugano black wheels available as options.

After the worst late winter/early spring in years (i.e. way too cold and too much snow), I could finally bring my car from the winter storage today. Happy day! No Friday 13th for me :)

Over the winter I have done a few small mods again, although the major change was to update the wheels and tyres. Now on Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.3's (8.5 x 19, ET35), and Michelin PS4S. Found some nice R logo centre caps for the wheels as well which I like a lot more than the original TD ones.

Other than that I deleted the rear wiper, removed the front plate holder and changed to smaller symmetrical reg plates (without the EU sign), installed LED mirror puddle lights and changed the cornering lights. No more yellow lights on the car now! Probably did some more things which I don't remember now as well. Can't wait to start driving this again after the 5+ month break!
