Relay Locations - AC, ESP and DCC ?

Does anyone know which relays control which functions on the 2009 2.0 TDI GT?

My air conditioning has stopped working and I wanted to check that the relay switch is working ok to rule that out before taking it to a garage - but I can't find information anywhere about which relays are which.

After testing a few of the relays (which all seemed to be functioning), my ESP and Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) buttons are now not working either! This could be an unrelated issue, but I'm fairly certain I would have noticed if the chassis control wasn't working.

Photo of the relays attached. Any help much appreciated!

Hello Roy,

Thanks for your replies to my query, we downloaded the document but not really much the wiser as none of the diagrams seem to match what we're looking at which is strange. Not sure where your posts have gone either!

I think I'll have to take it to a VW garage to get it plugged into a computer.

Thanks for your help,

Sophie.

Hi Sophie, see page 1237 and 1238 of the Basic equipment document.
The bottom is on page 1237 the upper part on 1238.
If i look at the diagram the 2nd 449 fuse on top must be for the blower motor.
I don't think this fault will be found with a computer. Other option is to buy a couple spare fuses and change 1 at a time and see if the blower comes to life.

Hi Roy - thanks, didn't realise the diagram was split across two pages.

The blower is working, but air just not getting cold. When you press the AC button there's no audible click from a relay switch either. We've had all of the relays out that we can get to relatively easily.

The DCC and ESP is a mystery, I'm assuming that they must go through a relay too? Perhaps the same one as AC. Got a few more relays to check so will report back after that.

Thanks for your help!

Sophie.

I would check the airc pump and if this is switched on and the pipes getting cold under the bonnet. Could be there is to less refrigerant in it.
The airco pump is driven by the engine, the clutch is magnetic controlled. Often the pump is broken or to little refrigerant.
And the DCC, ESP fault could also be the need to be reset with a computer to get the warnings away.

Ok thanks Roy - will report back on progress. Thanks, Sophie.

Update - diagnostic machine showed there is low gas in the air con system. All faults cleared and ESP/DCC buttons still not working. Booked into garage for further investigation on both issues.
