Scirocco Central

Hi,
I have a 2011 2.0TDI 170bhp GT. When pulling away, and when stationary, with revs at 1300-1600 there is a vibration/rattle from under the bonnet. Seems to be around/under the battery/airbox.
Has anyone else experienced this? Is it common? Whats the cause?
My dad has a 2012 Golf 2.0TDi which does the same - we've taken his apart and can't seem to identify what the cause is (unless its further down in the engine bay).

Could be the heat covering plate on the back of the engine on the exhaust around the turbo/dpf.

Is this part easy to get to? Is it a common problem or is it associated with any other issues?
