Smoke from exhaust under hard acceleration

Hello everyone pretty new here, I've recently brought a scirocco 1.4tsi 160bhp. I have noticed in the morning on my way to work if I put my foot down it will cause white smoke ? I did it on my way back from work and there was minimal to no smoke . Maybe it's because it's cold ? But I thought the engine would of only let out a bit of smoke on the start up , not every gear under acceleration. Obviously the other thing is the head gasket which is what I'm worried about but like I said it didn't happen on the way back from work just the way there ? Any help or advice or anyone's else scirocco do this would be appreciated . Thanks

In these temperatures, a petrol engine will look like a steam engine. It is perfectly normal for petrol, especially these TSI engines, to emit a lot of steam when putting your foot down - its mainly noticeable in cold weather, of course in warm its far less visible.

My first thoughts too. White smoke isn't smoke it's steam and nothing to worry about. Black smoke is unburnt fuel and not good or it's oil getting into the combustion which is worse.

As said white is OK, black (fuel) or blue (oil) is bad.
