Throttle Position Sensor Issues

Has anyone ever had issues with their Throttle Position Sensor, i had a slight hessitation when setting off from junctions on Friday, so dropped it off at the local garage who diagnosed a fault code relating to the Throttle Position Sensor, but on clearing the code the problem seemed to go away.................... well for a day at least

Now it's back with a vengence, just been on a 10 mile run and spent most of it in limp mode (couldn't rev past 3000 rpm), so when i got home i ran it for fault coeds and it came up with

P2101 - Throttle Actuator control Motor Circuit Range

Anyone had this issues and what the fix might be as the garage thought it might run a bit deeper than just the TPS

You could try cleaning the throttle butterfly incase it's gunged up and sticking. As well asvthatbit may be worth doing a throttle body synchronisation to see if that helps.

Did the EPC (Electronic Pedal Control) light come on?

Not really much to the system. Throttle pedal which is a potentiometer creates the demand through ECU and motor on throttle body moves as per the demand again controlled by the ECU with the position also being fed into the ECU.

Yep, EPC light came on

I take it the throttle body is hidden down behind the engine somewhere inaccessible (2.0 TSi)

Might have to limp I the garage on Monday morning

Throttle body is in the inlet tract after the MAF.

Looks like you may have been correct, the garage have cleaned the throttle body as it was a little dirty (that alone didn't solve the problem) and then re-synchronised the TPS and all appears to be fine

It was horrendous this morning though, wouldn't even hold idle, and just kept dying, had to drive it with foot half on the throttle just to keep it running, luckily i live very close to my local garage, though i do now have a rather lovely (not) courtesy Ka for the day :eyepop:
