iPhone holder

Just fitted a brodit iPhone holder and wanted to wire it direct from the mdi under the arm rest to charge and listen to music. so bought a mdi to USB and fitted a long lightning to USB cable but didn't recognise the phone.

I've already got a mdi to 30pin cable with a 30pin lightning adapter and I know this works when I used to keep the phone in the cup holder.

So question is how do I some how extend the 30pin to lightning adapter to the brodit phone holder which is on the dash board ? I know you can buy one but it's only 0.2m long and I need at least 1.8mand in black so I can hide the cable along the Center console then into the media port under the arm rest ?

Spent all day searching on here for an answer but can only find the short media cables I already have.
And the car is a rcd510 with no Bluetooth 2009 model

Thanks
Gary

I installed a USB socket in the armrest. 12v you can pick from the fuse box or sigarette lighter with some contra connectors. Or you directly connect it to the fusebox with this http://www.prodctodc.com/dc-12v-to-5v-w ... Ag8KYZUeEc" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Maybe easier then the mdi connection. And with 2.1 amps it will charge faster.

what type of adaptor did you use to convert the MDI cable from old style ipod to lightning?

I bought a adaptor which is a female 30 pin to male lightning, it plays music but wont charge?
