Will VW offer the Bluetooth unit as an after fit?

Hi all,
I was going to fit a Parrot unit to my car (The little colour screen one most likely) but I was wondering whether any of you think VW will offer the original Bluetooth unit for the Scirocco as an after fit?
Any one got any experience with other VW's?

Parrot will cost around £200 with fitting, and to be honest if the original will cost anything up to £400 I will got for it...

They said no to me, however you can buy the VW Bluetooth module with cables and mic on ebay for around £300+

Fitting would be straight forward if you didn't need to life up the carpet, as the module sits beneath the drivers seat!

Heres a DIY guide....

I know thats an Octavia and not a Scirocco but the components are Identical!

I have a funny feeling though that the mic may already be built in our cars, thats just wishful thinking though.

iroc has a parrot installed, my only reservation on a retrofit vw is compatibility, the strong point on parrot is its talks to most things properly (problems previously with Blackberry with nokia kit), the golf reto kit is ZGB 000 060 006 at £300 plus fitting, the phone bit in the 510 manual makes it look tempting though if available

Thanks! Not sure I would attempt to do it myself though...
Any idea who might fit this if one gets hold of the kit?

Does VW offer it for any of their other cars? If they do, it might just be a case of the Scirocco being too new for them to offer it yet...

Would I have trouble pairing with an iPhone?

The VW kit is compatible with rSAP enabled phones. I was going to have it fitted but a couple of the dealers that I have spoke to said it isn't very good. If anybody wants one fitting the guy that fitted mine will do it but he is in the Manchester area.

My dealer offered retro fitted bluetooth when I collected my car Friday before last. Cost was £500 and would make use of the button on the steering wheel. I decided that it was not worth it and bought a Parrot Minikit Slim for £59 from Halfords.

I am really impressed with it! Very simple to use, clear sound and the person on the other end can hear me clearly. Also it looks good, is very discreet and can't be seen from outside the car. I chose this over other Parrot systems because I did not want dismantle parts of the interior to run wires for a microphone - the missus has had two car phones fitted in the past and both left gaps between panels and rattling.

I have a visorblade in the wagon and find it very clear and easy to use, reason I had the parrot fitted in the car was so the radio would mute automatically and the conversation is transmitted through the car speakers. There's no gaps in the trim in mine.

iroc, how much did the parrot cost, in the end? Do you have a link for the actual one?

All in it cost me £150 to have the Parrot supplied and fitted, this also included the wiring harness and fitting the new head unit.
There is a picture of it fitted on the mod threads.

Thanks, sounds very reasonable.

I thought so. You can have it done cheaper by not having the harness but then it means tapping into the wiring loom. :shake:

Here's the picture.

I suppose it depends on the person that does the installation but I'm sure its usually fine, I was just cautious because of bad experiences in the past. The mute button on the steering wheel is proving useful with my parrot as the call does not come through the speakers.

Hi guys, I was directed here by one of your members as the octavia-vrs.com website is mine.

If you have any questions regarding the kits please ask or drop me an email/PM.

I have fitted quite a lot of these kits and can point you in the right direction if you need to.
