Scirocco buying advice

Hey Guys,

Apologies if this is in the wrong area, feel free to move it to the right place :)

A bit of background
I currently drive a Fiesta with outstanding finance so I would need a dealer who will settle my current finance but will also offer me new finance. I don't really want to be spending too much a month, perhaps around the £150 mark and with part of my car's value as a deposit I think I can afford about £11K max.

In an ideal world I would like a 2.0 TDI 170 GT but I think I would settle for a descent deal on a 140 if it has sat nav. After browsing for a couple of months on the trader and round various dealers I am beginning to think I am being a bit optimistic trying to get this sort of spec from a dealer that will also settle my finance etc.

I live in Cholsey, not far from Reading and I have found this 140 Bluemotion with sat nav at Windrush VW in Maidenhead.
http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... =p&adPos=3" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Seeing as this comes with a £500 deposit, warranty and servicing etc then I am thinking this could be a good deal and I could then get some 2nd hand interlagos wheels and tint the windows for not too much money.

Any thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, I have read that the 1.4 can be a bit of a bugger with its timing chain/tensioner if not careful.

I'm looking at the diesel mainly because of my driving. I do about 60 miles a day, most of which is dual carriageway and motorway so the torque appeals to me.
The 2.0 petrol appeals to me for oerformance but the economy not so much.

In regards to settling your finance.. You and the dealer will agree on a px price.
The dealer will settle exactly what you owe to the finance company.

If you're in negative equity you have to pay off the outstanding.

If you're in positive equity, you can chose to use it as a deposit on your next car or get it transferred directly into your bank.

Some dealers will add the difference onto the new finance agreement if you wish. Not ideal as it can be more expensive and means your in negative equity for longer with the new car.
I wasn't aware you could do that! There you go.. another option, as undesirable as it is!

It really depends on the finance company and their policy.

Thanks for that Andy. I am fairly familiar with the settlement process, I work in support for a company who supply dealership software.

At the moment I am going to look at the scirocco in the link above but I am unsure if I would miss the GT options.... This is however a 13 plate with a years warranty.
The GT models that I find are all 10 plates to... Not sure if this is really something to consider.

I'm selling my 170 GT diesel (with sat nav, panoramic roof and loads of other options) if you don't have any luck with a trade deal that suits you mate.
