Headlightretrofits word of warning

Hi guys,

Just a warning, from not long after getting the headlights I started to get condensation on them both which is driving me nuts, I have just got round to investigation why and found the silicon they have used seems to be absorbing the water and has become a slimy mess.

Don't get me wrong I love the headlights they did a great job but the silicon they have used is complete garbage so I am going to have to take the things apart and do them properly.

I have found a lot of other people complaining of condensation also, be warned.

That can't be silicone, if it's doing that. Maybe it's an acrylic sealant?

Either way, I think the correct stuff for that sort of job is PU Sealant:

Cheers ill give that stuff ago, Apparently they use butyl sealant, which is supposed to be waterproof but it doesn't look like it to me!

Where are these headlights from?
Cheap Chinese copies?

No they are my original OEM headlights which I paid a known company £400 to fit projectors.

They did a great job just didn't seal them up again very well!

I'd be sending them back and demanding they sort them out, not trying to sort it out yourself, or at least try to get some sort of refund for their fuck-up

I agree with rpsmith79, especially if plenty of other people have the same issues.
This is the one thing that puts me off modding lights, I've done a couple of side/fog units in my ftos & one set always fogged up,the other survived fine though but if definitely not risk it on headlights with the higher replacement costs
