Urgent help required!! Sunroof won't close

Sunroof will not shut and it's about to rain haha. Read on the forum that a chap had a similar issue and VW performed a basic system reset. Not having the VAGcom stuff (and refusing to the let the incompetent morons at VW touch my car again) I was hoping I could perform this reset by unplugging the battery for a couple of hours...?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Just try Phill, you don't need to unplug it for hours but give it a minute and then reconnect.
If that doesn't work drive it somewhere under a roof.

Cheers Roy - for the time being i've got it shut using the key, left it half hour then returned. For now it's shut so i'm not so worried, and will have another go when weather is better.
I was tempted to buy a set of roof bars and a sheet of plywood as a "quick fix"
