What are the overtaking acceleration figures?

Hi
Does anyone have the overtaking acceleration figures, i.e. 50-70mph of both the diesel 170PS and the petrol 200PS ?
I am deciding between these two cars.
VW don't publish the figures apparently.
Or, do you have any anecdotal experiences?
many thanks
Jonathan

There will be very little in it between the 2 at 50-80mph because of the extra torque of the TDI. I read somewhere that the MK6 Golf GTI does 50-75mph in 9.5s, and the GTD version does it in 10.0. The GTI has 10ps more power than the 2.0TSI in the Scirocco, so I think that 0.5s gap will be closer still (probably more like 0.3s)
Off the mark the 170TDI is slower because it has too much initial torque to put that power down (my MK5 Golf 170TDI GT Sport would wheelspin in 1st or second at less than 30mph if you fully floored it. Improve the grip and the 170TDI isn't far behind the 2.0TSI - an example of this is the official 0-60 time of a TT TDi - 7.5 seconds, due to it's quattro system providing the grip needed.
If the TDI could solve its initial grip issues, it wouldn't be far behind a 2.0TSI. If you get a 170 and are "enthusiastic" with it, don't expect to see 50mpg though: 40-44mpg average is more like it.
I almost waited for the 170TDI, but I didn't think it was worth £950 more than the 140, slightly bigger turbo and everything else the same as the 140 does not add up to £950, £600 more would be too much. Charging £400 more for the 170TDI than the 2.0TSI is just plain daft.
