So I'm ready to order the car...

I've done some investigation on the net & got some good prices through online brokers, decided on colour choice & options (many thanks to everyone here your knowledge & previous discussions have been invaluable) but now no one seems to want my money
I went to my local dealer this morning who said they would match the online broker deal I had found but then didn't really match it at all & the broker I want to go with won't ring me back, GGGRRRRRRR frustrating
What are VW playing at? do they not want to sell cars?

Did you try broadspeed? My experience of them and the supplying dealer was excellent.

Hi, what's your best quote so far?
I saw that dealdrivers were offering only about 4% discount, and I managed to get my local dealer to agree to a deal which mounted to about 9% discount. If you want to go down the haggle route, I PM you the number of the dealer and you can call them, should be able to get yourself a quote hopefully, and then get your local dealer to match it??
Update: Just checked
www.dealdrivers.co.uk
They've knocked the prices down, a 2.0 TSI DSg can be got for £20.509 now (was quoting 21164 when I ordered a 3 months ago!) - Not sure how well that compares with the broadspeed price...

best quote is about £1800 off list price, the dealer that broadspeed are using to cover my area are marginally (<£100) more than that but I'm happy to go with it as they're well known therefore have more of a 'face' to shout at if anything goes wrong
my local dealer said they would match what i had found & then when i told them the figure wouldn't. & the others i rang paniced abit too (they don't like stepping on each others toes too much round here)

In the past i've never had a bother getting the local dealer to match the latest "uknewcars" price, but when I went for my Scirocco, I had to haggle hard to get £1000 off list, but I did get £1000 more on my part ex than the parkers guide said it was worth, so overall it was like a £2000 discount (thanks to the crazy used car market at the moment).
The Scirocco is in short supply and my local dealers have no problem getting full list for all of their allocation cars (I wasn't being fed a line there, a mate of mine is a sales manager at my local dealership). I got my discount for the friend connection, and due to my car being a dealership swap for a MK6 Golf (so it was never part of their 2009 allocation).
When supply can't match demand, you'll find it hard to pay much less than full price for anything.
