I still love my Rocky, but it's starting to show it's age!

I've always had squeaky brakes after the car has been sitting overnight or after a day in the office car park but that squeak now happens when I'm braking.

The squeak starts soon after I start braking with quite a high pitched noise (but not a screech) with quick revolutions then as the car slows, the squeak gets lower in pitch until it turns into a similar noise that all the brakes make when cold.

This seemed to happen a few days ago after one of my rear wheels jarred over a pot hole, but as I mostly have music on, there's a good chance it started earlier.

I thought it might be the pads wearing, but apparently there is an indicator on the dash for that...

Could it be from an impact, or is it mostly likely just wear? On visual inspection I can't see anything wrong, but then I don't really know what I'm looking for!

For a start, there are only wear sensors on the front brakes.

Squealing when braking is normally down to contamination or glazing of the rear pads causing them to vibrate. The sliders are notorious for seizing. A strip and clean of the rear brakes should solve the problem, along with a new set of pads if required.

I've had the back brakes stripped down and cleaned etc... the pads were fine and I was hopeful everything would be sorted.
Unfortunately, it still happens.
Now I'm questioning whether its from the back at all but I'm sure that's where the sound comes from.

I wonder if it's perhaps a warped disc and as the pads get warmer the rubbing starts.

This morning I drove to work with the music off and listened intently. There was no noise until around 15 minutes into my journey, no more than 30mph so light braking. But after 15 minutes it started, first quietly then the noise gets louder.

The best way I can describe it is squeek squeek squeek until the car slows right down when it becomes more of an elongated creak.

I'm at a bit of a loss now!

When you get the squeaking, stop and carefully check the temperature of each disc. Whichever one is binding will be much hotter than the others.

I had the exact same issue and stripping and cleaning the rear brakes fixed the problem.
