Scirocco Central

Hi All.

So im new here, only had my Scirocco couple of months, It's a 2009 2.0tsi in Candy White.

I've had this real annoying buzz or rattling noise from under the car when slowing down to a junction or revving the car in my driveway, thought it was just my heatshield. After manipulating the heatshield it was quieter but still there is this annoying buzz.....tizz......rattle noise. Now i've been reading a lot about the wastegate actuator arm vibration and a simple clip that snaps on and cures this.

Has anyone had this noise? Has anyone fixed it with the clip? Can i buy the clip from the Stealers or is it part of a recall my car should have had?

Any info greatly appreciated.

I'm going to ring vw today and see how much the clip is.

It could be the turbo wastegate, typically between about 1,200 - 2000 rpm. I never really noticed it until my attention was drawn to it.

I got mine done under warranty but there was no recall as it does not affect safety or performance.

So the clip is ordered, £16 from tps and I pick it up and fit it Friday.
Fingers crossed this fixes the issue.

Is it only on petrol cars? I think I have the same 'problem' on my TDI. Only between 1200 till 1800rpm I hear the rattle.

Yours could well be the same issue, your car is diesel but still has a turbo with a wastegate. I'm fitting the clip later on today so will report back on how I get on.

So I finally got the car on the ramps today and was hopeful as the wastegate arm had loads of play in it......however. .....it snapped on and guess what. ....the noise is still there! It sounds in the turbo area still so maybe it's the wastegate? Maybe they all sound like this but it's bugging the hell outta me. I've got a Miltek turbo back system so maybe the noise carries down the pipe.
