Model Year etc. Code EV

Post by edwheels »

Hi all,

Little confused with the way model years (MY) work. My pre-facelift TSI was registered in April 2014 build code on the VIN is EV. E seems to indicate MY2014 and V Portugal (for the build location).

However I thought MY2014 was the facelifted version - mine is pre-facelift.... Guessing it is one of the very last pre-facelift cars built and therefore also one of the very last 1.4 TSI 160PS DSGs (& also hoping all historic revisions to both engine and gearbox are in place as I really love this engine and gearbox combo!!!).

Not complaining - MY2014 is a nice to have - but assumed it would be MY2013 ... the geek in me would like to know how this works with regard to the facelift/non-facelift revisions.

Cheers.

VW model year changes over on week 23, therefore any car built after week 23 2013 is a Model Year 2014.

It is my understanding that the facelift version was introduced from MY2015, therefore cars built after week 23 2014.

Cuprabob - thanks, that makes sense and explains everything. Looking further, the handbook is labelled as the 11.2013 edition so that also falls between wk 23 2013 and wk 23 2014...
