My roc might be mapped! Need bigger brakes!

I bought myself an R fairly recently and I bought it on age, mileage, condition. Paid a decent price for a great example.
It always felt quicker than the figures suggested, but today it definitely showed itself to be more than it should be.
A good friend of mine purchased a new Porsche Baxter spyder as a bit of a summer fun car, and weather being kind to us, we went out for a run today. It's had a new exhaust system and remap on it and runs around 400bhp.
Not on the longest straight could he pull away from me. At one point he let me overtake so I had the lead, and he had to pull all the stops out to maintain pace.
That doesn't seem possible from what should be a 265bhp car,
So beyond a rolling road, is there any way to tell if my car has been remapped!
On a separate note, where the Porsche did piss all over me was braking. The roc seriously ran out of brakes on more than one occasion. So I'd appreciate any recommendations for how to improve the braking performance of the car without necessarily going down the £1200 forge brake kit route!
