front grill replacement

hi,

i have a 2013 scirocco which needs a new front grill - the honeycomb part. I am going to get one of the local garages to do it and will ring around and get some quotes in the week (I am assuming that the local main dealership will charge over the odds but maybe i am wrong).

Is there any way I can find out what the part will cost so I have a rough idea before speaking to garages? Also does anyone have any idea roughly how long it should take? I don't want to get ripped off but have no idea how big a job it is.

many thanks,

Sallyann

The grill costs roughly £60 from VW. Fittting time for removing and refitting the front bumper is 1-2 hours....expect a 2 hour job book time. It should not take any longer than that unless they don't know what they are doing.
That's how long it would take me to do the job - but i do have the VW workshop guides that show me the dismantling sequence and what bolts to undo.

So if they are charging a rate of around £75 per hour, plus the £60 i would say you should be looking around the £200 mark for the total cost.

Do get a quote from the dealership. It may end up a similar cost and as much as i don't like dealerships, they are better equipped to be doing that job properly because of the aforementioned workshop guides.
