My friend has a scirocco GT and the problem his facing is that his clutch doesn't work. His clutch either sticks to ground or can be moved into position, no biting point.

Normally that symptom points to a faulty slave cylinder, which unfortunately is inside the clutch housing so it's a gearbox off job.

It could also be the master cylinder which is easier to check as that's at the pedal end. Worthing checking before pulling the car apart.

I had the exact problem some time ago.
I had to change the slave cylinder (if this is the way it's called) it's about 100-150 eu.
Once the mechanic opened the gearbox he convinced me to change the whole clutch assembly as well along with the slave cylinder (although it was not necessary)
I believe the parts were about 800 eu and another 150 or so for the mechanic

The problem was with the clutch cable and hydraulics. Thank god it wasn't any cylinder or within the clutch itself.

Hydraulics yes, sciroccos (and all modern cars) do not have clutch cables :)
