Hey,

Any ideas as to what this can be, I go to start my car and the revs are extremely low so I give the car some gas and the revs pick up, and then the car just dies...

Any ideas?

Fuel pump or its relay. Dirty fuel filter. Dying or dirty spark plugs. Dodgy coils. Dirty/clogged injectors. Broken vacuum hoses.

Most fairly easy to diagnose yourself. Start with the fuel pump, does it buzz when you open the door or turn the key 2 clicks? The relay I don't know where it is on the scirocco, probably behind the dash under the steering wheel, put your hand on it and turn the key two clicks you should feel it clicking.

Spark plugs just whip them out and give them a good clean then test them out the car they should give a bright blue spark. If they're filthy with carbon deposits they could cause your trouble.

Coils I don't know how you diagnose never had any fail on any of my cars, but some VW engines are notorious for eating them.

Injectors just try run some injector cleaner through, you just add it to your fuel.

Fuel filter is easy and cheap to replace worth doing anyway unless it's been done recently, have you run your tank right down to the bottom recently?

Vacuum hoses are trickier as you need to get under the car, if you hve a good Jack and stands you can do it easy enough but will be horrible in this weather.

Thanks, I've noticed that when I turn the ignition. I get a ding noise (it's not the battery bong) The MFD shows a spanner icon and the number 51. But I can't see any info on this, is this an error code?

No idea, new cars are just a load of complicated electrics. Something like your washer level sensor going could probably put it into limp mode or cause it not to start.

Get a code reader on it, buy one yourself as you can get a basic code reader for the price it would cost to have your car scanned at a garage.
