Engine management Light on!

Hello,

I bought my other half a scirocco 2.0 TSI this week and she loves it. However we've had a few issues that are worrying me. Firstly there's a smell of petrol coming from just above the oil filter,im wondering if one of the fuel pipes is a little loose?

The car doesn't always start first time,it's almost like the fuel pump isn't priming the engine quickly enough.

Finally the engine management light came on today which is a real worry,I know it's very hard to advise on this small amount of information but does anyone have any ideas as to what I can check or look into?

Cheers.

You need to plug VCDS in ... If you don't have it then post up your location and I'm sure someone will help.

Big thanks to Mr OCD who plugged in the car for us today, flagged up a P0420 code on bank 1 which we think is either a lambda/wiring or maybe an exhaust leak, both of which could also explain the fuel smell. Going to get it up in the air this week and look at the lambda.
