useless key that wouldn't unlock central locking.

So had a strange thing happen yesterday which has never happened before. Arrived at the post office and got out the car and went to the boot. Opened the boot got my stuff then closed it fully and locked the car via the remote. I know it locked as I have the alarm beep on lock etc. It beeped and the lights flashed. Was inside for about 5 mins then came back to the car and tried unlocking it with the remote and nothing happenEd. The remote light didn't flash and it would do anything. Tried all 3 buttons and nothing happened. Car wouldn't unlock. I had to remove the key hole cover on the handle to open that way. Upon turning the key and opening the door the alarm went off. quickly put key in ignition and turnt it on and it stoped.

I closed the door from the outside and relocked the car and tried to unlock it and it worked fine as normal. I have done it a few times today and it seems to be working fine now. Unlocking and locking as it should. Could anyone shed any light on this.? Perhaps flat battery in remote?

Could be ambient Radio Interference at that location causing the problem, however I would change the battery as a precaution.

Hi, I had exactly the same thing a few months ago on a supermarket car park, remote did nothing and had to pop the lock cover off I'm sure people thought I was trying to nick it! I didn't change the remote battery and its never done it since. I just put it down to some form of interference blocking the signal.

Had this about a year ago and then last month the key gave in entirely. Something to watch out for
