A bad day for mods.

So today I thought I'd tint the sidelight/indicator cluster, I've done this before on mini and Corsa side indicators, pretty much gloss black and they looked good, orange indicator still shone through as bright as before.
To start with I broke an LED sidelight bulb that I put in last week, it was too wide for the housing on one side so it decided to get stuck and come apart from the main body.
After getting the led end out of the light cluster I sprayed the lights, in doing so I got drips of black on a brand new white mountain bike seat.
Walked up to my Granda's only for it to start raining so I had to go back and cover up the open wiring on the car!
Needed to get back home to my own house within the hour so decided to try bake the lights under the grill the for a few minutes, it was already mostly dry apart from the ends where the paint was thicker.
This worked but also melted the lights slightly, they sank in slightly in 2 places after only being in about 2 minutes.
After putting them back on the lights barely shine through them, this spray was different to previous I have used and seemed to make all light shine through as red.
So now I had to remove the spray or I wouldn't be able to drive home, this was the easy part, used a tiny bit of petrol on a rag and the tint wiped off like water !
So I refitted the standard looking, now slightly melted lights with a standard 501 bulb in the left cluster to go home after a wasted day !
And my phone battery went so I couldn't take a single picture !
So today I learned:
Petrol is amazing
Don't put plastic in the oven
Cover up open wiring if your leaving the car
Anyone that would like to donate some standard indicator clusters would be my hero
