Activated Carbon Filter

Hello fellas,

There is something pissing me off. Every single time that there's a bad smell outside and I have AC on, that smell comes in. I hate it.
My old Merc W211 has a button for it. It's called Activated Carbon Filter and a car from 2003 let's me turn on or off. On my Rocco, I don't even have an activated carbon filter and bad smell comes in.
Can I fit it on a local dealer? Does it even exist for Rocco?

Thank you.

PS: This button let me turn it on or off. On Rocco I don't see it guys.

Probably just old AC and an old cabin filter...

regas A/C
new cabin filter (spray it with anti-bac air freshner before you put it in perhaps)
put Air con on with recirc on
spray the interior with loads of air freshner.
leave it for 15 minutes
job done.

alternatively you can get "fog machines" which do the same.. we have one.

Damn bro, it only has 15k km and already needs another filter perhaps.
On yours, when there is bad odor outside, does it come in?
I think it's not normal, even now that I know it DOES have activ carbon filter.

Pretty the Rocco has an Air Quality Sensor (AQS) that's supposed to detect such thing and activate recycle air setting to prevent it entering the cabin.

having the recirc in auto mode means the AC >has< to be on doesn't it?

No but it does on my partners car.
just because stale odors get caught in the cabin filter.
do you drive past smoggy areas? smoke? diesel fumes etc?

a new cabin filter is very cheap.

Don't think so just tried it this morning. Took the Climate control out of automatic all together.
Turned AC off aswell and the auto recirculation was still active. :)

I just leave my rocco in full auto all the time anyway!

That's it!!!
I didn't know about that auto recirculation mode! It was turned off.
Damn, I already replaced charcoal filter, put that option on auto mode and now it's amazing! It's working perfectly. Bad smell outside, leather smell from seats inside. Perfect!

You guys are the best. And yes, it does have a sensor to detect odors and different concentration in the air. Checked it with VW engineers.
