Early buyers long term reviews?

So it's about 8 months now since the Scirocco first came out with initial deliveries at the end of Sept 08.
Would any of the early adopters like to give us all a progress report on their cars and give an insight in to longer term ownership for those of use fairly new on the block. Are there any little niggles that have crept in over time? Has the car loosened up nicely now? Does it use up a lot of oil? That kind of stuff

I got mine at the end of October last year. Pleased to report no major problems with fit, finish or mechanical nature to report so far.
Done nearly 4,500 miles now but not really been on a seriously long journey yet. The car has been doing an average mileage of between 28-29 mpg on start stop short journeys mixed with the occasional blast up the M69 just for fun. I have seen 40mpg now and then on 50 ish mile journeys on a mix of country/A roads and I have only had to put a very small amount of oil in it too.(less than 1/4 litre)
Practicality wise i have fitted everything and everyone i have needed too in and not felt as though i needed more room.
Niggles. Not much really. The boot lip is a bit high and the opening a bit narrow to what you may be used to but you get used to it. Rearward vision is not it's strongest card either, but again you adapt . I don't think any of us that have bought one would say that rear visabilty was a must have before we signed the order form !
Put it this way it's not bad enough to make me wish i had ordered the rear parking sensors.
I may have a reason to visit the dealer soon though with a minor irritation with the front windows. They drop and rise again when you turn the ignition key to start the engine. Not exactly the end of the world but annoying just the same.
Overall very pleased with it and even now it still provokes double takes and pointing and gesturing when people see it.
To those who are waiting patiently. The wait is worth the pain and suffering.
and those who have yet to take the plunge.
Go on. You know you want too

It has been a pleasant experience after 8 months and 7000 miles, my DSG has had a few problems and the after sales have been poor to a degree. My only niggle(s) are the plastic grill at the front has discoloured and a couple of my alloys seem to pick up stone chips, but that is basic and to be expected after the miles it’s covered.
My only advice would be get the re-map, I put the car back to standard the other day and I did not like it, it felt under powered and sluggish, my only other gripes are the leather does seem to be wearing quickly but I will get the cream out at the weekend and see if I can sort that especially now the hot weather is almost here, and the only other point worth noting is the car suffers with under steer, if you are buying the car based on the merits of its looks and you aren’t one to drive enthusiastically then it shouldn’t be a problem for you, but if you are going to push it, just make sure your tyres are thoroughly warmed through , that the road is bone dry and it’s a warm day otherwise you will be visiting the nearest ditch at speed.

I got mine back in October - done 7000 exactly as of yesterday - DSG has been working perfect for me and car overall has been well worth the money I spent on it (even though if I'd waited I would have saved a few £££).
At first I wasn't impressed about the interior (always felt it needed an update) however because I've lived with it now I don't have an issue with it anymore.
I have had it remapped and certainly it's given it some extra umph - I had a race with my brothers TT, I let him get in front and from that point he couldn't get rid of me - round corners it was slipping but it still managed to hang on.
My only gripe with the car is that more people know about it now and as a result I've spotted a lot more now (I guess I miss the feeling about being the only one on the road with one

)
Finally for the money I spent I don't think I'd be as happy with the alternatives I could have gone for - this car is such a joy to drive and I really love spending every min of driving it.
