I just got my TSi back from it's MOT (perfick, again) and noticed that my magic brake pads have grown again! They've gone as follows, noting that I do very low mileage...

August 2013 - 9mm
February 2014 - 11mm
August 2014 - 6mm
February 2015 - 9mm

All "measured" by the same dealer's workshop! I strongly suspect that they're breathing or that they put on weight over Xmas every year

Incredible, yes - they did that with my tyres, one year I had 5mm tread left, but the following year I had 6mm!

I'm more impressed they can see into the future and give you a measurement for next month☺

It just goes to show the difference in staff standards. I had an Audi garage previously say my discs and pads needing changing. I asked them how much was left on them and doubted it, so said I'd book it in another time. Guess what? Yes when I measured myself I had above the size Audi would say the need replacing and ended up getting an apology from the manager.
