Which Model?

Hi there,
I am in the market for a new car at the moment, trying to decide whether to buy a Scirocco or not. I am looking for something engaging to drive, so want to go for a 2.0 TSI GT ideally, however I see they do a 1.4 160 which is tuneable. Is there any difference in chassis set up / brakes on the 1.4 in comparison to the 2.0? I can imagine the weight will help the 1.4 however I am not keen if its a softer car.
Also I have heard horror stories with DSG - would you stay clear?
